about the area

Coloma is a quiet village of 400 people where vacationers find a place to relax. Local events are abundant and fun to attend. We will be happy to assist guests with event details as well as tickets or reservations if needed.

The Village of Coloma, founded in 1858, was formerly Coloma Station. Two gold seekers returning from Coloma, California used their influence to name the village.

Walking
It's safe to walk in Coloma at all times and one can walk through the entire town in about an hour. Stop at one of the friendly restaurants in the area for a snack or meal or enjoy the community park just blocks from the hotel.

Bicycle Riding
The country roads of Waushara County are great for bicycle riding. There are numerous towns within a 15 mile radius where guests can rest before returning, eat at a local bar or restaurant, or call for a pick-up. Ride past the numerous Amish farms which dot the area.

Hunting
Plenty of land reserved as public hunting grounds are near the hotel. We will be glad to provide directions.

Fishing and Water Sports
Pleasant Lake and Wood Lake which are within 5 miles of the hotel have public boat launches and great fishing. Water-skiing is allowed on Pleasant Lake.

Snowmobiling
The trail goes right past the hotel and connects to trails maintained by the Coloma Pathfinders as well as trails throughout Waushara and Adams County.

Ice Age Trail
The Ice Age Trail is being expanded every year. All work is done by volunteers. Easy access to the trail is just a mile from the hotel. The trail offers great hiking and cross country skiing.

Shopping
Despite its size, Coloma boasts of a few shops which have great merchandise and prices. Wautoma, just 13 miles away, has many interesting shops and makes a great day trip. Coloma is 1/2 way between Portage and Stevens Point where city shopping is available for the avid shopper.

Second Hand Stores and Rummage Sales
Central Wisconsin is famous for the "deals" which abound throughout the area. Shop the consignment and 2nd hand stores in the Stevens Point area or visit the area rummage sales on a Saturday or Sunday where great merchandise and prices can be found.
